Distance Learning Package:

The essence of Distance Education lies in its ability to impart quality education from a distance. Under distance education high quality of education and training is assured by self-explanatory courseware, assignments through correspondence and practical at Distance Education Practical Centre (DEPC).

The complete course is designed in four modules supplied in simple spoken English. The modules are considered adequate for office goers, businessmen and housewives. The up-gradation to keep pace with fast changing technology will continue, however, valued suggestions from all members shall always remain a major guiding factor. The details as per the modules are as follows:

MODULE-1 Introduction to IT, Generation of computers, classification of computers, input and output devices, computer languages, number system, computer codes, memory, database concept, data communication, network engineering, internet technology and introduction to internal architecture of basic microprocessor.

MODULE-2 Windows 98 (Introduction, basic concept, accessories, control panel, setting-up network connection, internet options), Microsoft Disk Operating System, Unix, introduction to windows NT and various application software and their uses.

MODULE-3 Database concept, Basic of FoxPro, Data types, operators, FoxPro commands, functions, memory variables, reports, labels, Programming concept, functions, select commands, control objects, screen menu, memory variables.

MODULE-4 Introduction to C, Basic elements for constructing simple C statements, variable, operators in C, structure of a C program, control statements, while, do while, for statements, switch(), library functions, arrays, string handling, multi dimensional arrays, functions, pointers, command line arguments, structures, linked list, review exercise.
Examination process & eligibility :

PHSC has decided to evaluate through assignments and theoretical examinations. Each module amounts to 100 marks. 60% of the total marks are allotted to evaluation done through assignments and 40% of total marks are allotted for theoretical examination. The procedure is explained in the Application for Examination cum nomination of students.
